The MINDEF Strategic Plan (PSM) program, organized by the Markas Pemerintahan Medan Timur Tentera Darat (MPM TTD) (MPM TTD), together with MYSED and other Sarawak State Government agencies, has successfully made a significant impact in strengthening the national defense ecosystem. The event, officiated by the Eastern Field Commander (PMT TD), Lt Gen Dato’ Mohd Sofi bin Md Lepi, along with his wife, Datin Erni Irawati binti Rosli, also the Vice Chairman 2 of the BAKAT Darat Council, aimed to raise defense and security awareness among the community in the border areas.
This program highlights the innovative Whole of Government, Whole of Society (WoGoS) concept, which integrates various ministries and agencies to create a dynamic and responsive defense model. This holistic approach demonstrates close cooperation between the Sarawak state government, defense agencies, federal agencies, and the local community. This success was also achieved with the support of key strategic partners such as the Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, the Sarawak Islamic Council, MyFundAction, and Sarahill Consulting.
The program was enriched with a variety of engaging and beneficial activities, including:
- Smart Fiqh classes organized jointly by KAGAT and MIS.
- Anti-drug lecture by AADK.
- Performances of tambor and unarmed combat that captivated the audience.
- Tree planting activities to raise environmental awareness.
- Sports activities that fostered stronger relationships among participants.
- Karaoke session as an ice-breaking activity among participants.
- Lucky draw and distribution of boxes of blessings to the local community.
The exhibition of assets and small arms by 13 RAMD, a booth promoting Army careers, and the Territorial Army exhibition also attracted much attention. These activities not only showcased the nation’s defense capabilities but also gave the community an opportunity to better understand the role of the Malaysian Army in defending the country.
The MINDEF Strategic Plan program in Lubok Antu can also be considered a prototype for the future of the nation’s defense. It emphasizes that security is not only the responsibility of certain institutions but requires the comprehensive involvement of multiple parties in a more dynamic ecosystem. With this innovative approach, the Malaysian Armed Forces are not just defending the nation but also building a more sustainable, inclusive, and high-tech national resilience.
