Uniting Youth from Sarawak, ASEAN and the World in Kuching

SICO BORNEO 2026 is an international youth conference that has been held in Kuching, Sarawak started from 30th January 2026 to 1st February 2026, jointly organised by SSEAYP International Malaysia (KABESA) and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED).

Carrying the theme “Internationalisation and Globalisation of Sarawak and ASEAN Youth,” the conference is expected to bring together more than 300 youth participants from Sarawak, Sabah, ASEAN countries including Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia (Kalimantan & Sulawesi), as well as other international delegates.

SICO BORNEO 2026 is aligned with Sarawak’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the role of youth as drivers of inclusive, sustainable and future-ready development.

The conference also supports Sarawak’s aspiration to nurture world-class youth who are confident, skilled and ready to contribute meaningfully to society, the economy and the region.

MYSED MAJLIS KESINAMBUNGAN BUDI - 25 Jan 2026
The MYSED Majlis Kesinambungan Budi was organised as a gesture of appreciation and recognition for MYSED personnel who have demonstrated dedication, commitment, and outstanding service in supporting the Ministry’s vision and organisational goals. The ceremony honoured 24 recipients, comprising Excellent Service Award recipients, officers who have transferred to new postings, as well as those who have retired from service.

The ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Youth and Sports) and Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Ripin Lamat, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Entrepreneur Development).

In addition, the ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, who is also the former Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, reflecting the continuity of leadership and the strong inter-ministerial relationship.

The organisation of this ceremony symbolises deep respect and appreciation for the contributions and services rendered by the recipients throughout their tenure, whether they are continuing their careers in new assignments or transitioning into the next phase of life. The spirit of continuity and appreciation reflects the core values of recognition, unity, and sincerity that underpin MYSED’s organisational culture.

It is hoped that this ceremony will further strengthen camaraderie and inspire continued excellence and commitment among MYSED personnel, ensuring the Ministry’s sustained success in the years ahead.
 
Community Sports of Lundu District 2026 - 25 Jan 2026
Community Sports of Lundu District 2026, organised by the Lundu District Office in collaboration with the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) and the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), was successfully held at the Lundu Sports Complex on 24 January 2026. The programme involved more than 350 participants comprising civil servants and members of the local community who took part in pickleball, badminton, football, and tug-of-war events.

The programme was also attended by YB Mr Billy anak Sujang (N1 Opar State Assemblyman), the Lundu District Officer, and the Secretary of the Lundu District Council.
Handover Session of Duties of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development - 14 Jan 2026
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development held a Handover of Duties Session for the position of Permanent Secretary from the former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Morshidi Fredrick, to the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mr. Dzulkornain bin Masron, at the English Tea House.

The ceremony marked a transition in the Ministry’s top management leadership, in line with efforts to strengthen governance, ensure policy continuity, and sustain the national development agenda for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship.

In his speech, Mr. Morshidi Fredrick expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to all ministry staff for the cooperation, commitment, and support extended to him throughout his tenure. He also conveyed his confidence that the new leadership would continue to uphold excellence and further strengthen the implementation of the Ministry’s programmes and initiatives for the benefit of the people.

Meanwhile, in his acceptance speech, Mr. Dzulkornain bin Masron expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him and affirmed his commitment to continuing existing policies and strategic plans. He also emphasized his intention to work closely with all levels of ministry personnel and stakeholders to empower youth development, advance the sports sector, and invigorate the entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly among youths.

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, in his speech, also recorded his highest appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Morshidi Fredrick for his service, contributions, and leadership during his tenure as Permanent Secretary. He further extended his congratulations to Mr. Dzulkornain bin Masron on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to continue the Ministry’s agenda and aspirations.

The ceremony was witnessed by YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, along with the Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, YB Datuk Dr. Ripin bin Lamat. Also in attendance were senior officers of the Ministry, MYSED Divisional Office Heads, Civic Hall Managers, and Principals of Youth Camps.
The event concluded with the official handover of documents and a photo session, symbolizing the transition of responsibilities and trust.
COURTESY VISIT BY THE SELANGOR STATE EXCO FOR YOUTH, SPORTS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO SARAWAK - 08 Jan 2026

The Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Selangor State Government on 7 January 2026 in conjunction with the organisation of the 22nd Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXII) and Para SUKMA 2026, which will be hosted by Selangor.

The delegation was led by Yang Berhormat Tuan Mohd Najwan bin Halimi, the Selangor State Executive Councillor (Exco) for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship, and was accompanied by YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Yazid bin Sairi, Chief Executive Officer of SUKMA XXII 2026 Selangor; Tuan Mohamad Nizam bin Marjugi, Chief Operating Officer; as well as seven (7) other delegation officers.

The delegation was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development. The visit aimed, among other objectives, to officially extend an invitation to the Sarawak Government to participate in SUKMA XXII and Para SUKMA 2026, as well as to discuss organisational preparations and strengthen strategic cooperation between the two states in sports development.

Also held during the visit was the SUKMA Baton/Torch Handover Ceremony, symbolising the enthusiastic commencement of the SUKMA XXII 2026 Selangor Games.

The Sarawak Government warmly welcomed the visit and expressed its full commitment to supporting the successful organisation of SUKMA XXII and Para SUKMA 2026 in the interest of strengthening national sports development.

 

Sarawak Hope Run 2025 @Waterfront Kuching - 22 Dec 2025

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING COURSE 2025 - 24 Nov 2025
The Financial Management and Accounting Course, organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, aims to enhance officers’ knowledge and skills in managing finances and preparing accurate, transparent, and standard-compliant accounting reports. The main objectives of this course are to understand the fundamental principles of financial management and accounting, to master aspects of Payment and Revenue Management, to improve efficiency in Emolument Management, and to understand the concept of Public Officers’ Claims.
 
• A total of fifty-three (53) officers from various divisional offices of the ministry attended this course, including officers handling financial matters from the Headquarters. Three (3) invited speakers from the Sarawak State Treasury Department and the Kuching Divisional Treasury Office—namely Puan Icha ak Stephen Akon (Assistant State Accountant), Nanti Jalil (Assistant State Accountant), and Encik Tan Chi Chieh (Senior Accountant)—delivered presentations according to their respective areas of expertise.
Fire Safety Briefing and Training for MYSED Limbang Division in Collaboration with Limbang Fire and Rescue Department - 19 Nov 2025
The Fire Safety Briefing and Training Programme organised by MYSED Limbang Division in collaboration with the Limbang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) was successfully conducted with the participation of 19 MYSED Limbang staff and 8 firefighters who served as facilitators and safety trainers.

The programme aimed to enhance the awareness and knowledge of MYSED personnel on fire safety aspects, particularly focusing on prevention, initial response, and building evacuation procedures during emergencies. Throughout the briefing, participants were provided with explanations on fire causes, prevention measures, the use of fire extinguishers, and proper emergency response procedures.

Additionally, a practical training session was conducted where participants were given the opportunity to handle fire extinguishers and take part in a simulated fire drill in an orderly and controlled manner. The presence and support of the firefighters ensured that each exercise was carried out effectively, providing participants with a realistic and impactful learning experience.

Overall, the programme successfully achieved its intended objectives while further strengthening the cooperation between MYSED Limbang Division and the Limbang Fire and Rescue Department in enhancing workplace safety.
Movable Assets Management Committee Meeting No. 2/2025 - 12 Nov 2025
Movable Assets Management Committee Meeting No. 2/2025 was held on 11 November 2025 in Mukah District. The meeting was attended by all Chairpersons of the Asset Management Units (UPA) from the respective divisional offices, district offices, as well as representatives from the Headquarters of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED). The presence of these representatives ensured that discussions related to the management of government movable assets were conducted in an orderly, comprehensive, and compliant manner in accordance with current asset management procedures.
