Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg was present with about 744 Sarawak contingent athletes in the Launch of 100 Days Ahead of SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 at the Pullman Hotel, Kuching on Thursday.
Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXI Sarawak 2024 will be held from 17 to 24 August 2024.
On 16 March 2023, Sarawak was chosen to host the 21st SUKMA in 2024.
This is the 3rd edition of Sarawak hosting SUKMA after 1990 and 2016.
The organization of SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 will bring together a contingent of 12,619 people consisting of 9,927 athletes and 2,692 officials.
Of that number, 5,666 male athletes and 4,261 female athletes, while 1,845 male officials and 846 female officials.
SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 is also the largest SUKMA Festival ever organized since it was first introduced in 1986.
9 divisions will host the organization of 37 types of contested sports.
5 main villages have been identified to accommodate the athletes from the 15 competing contingents.
Also present were Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak Government Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Dato Sri Stephen Rundi anak Utom, Minister in the Premier's Department Dato Sri John Sikie Anak Tayai, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, Deputy Secretary to the Sarawak Government (Operations) and Chief Executive Officer of SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Datu Hii Chang Kee.
