Debak, August 23, 2025: Youths in Debak showed strong participation in the Belia GoBiz Debak programme, which combines entertainment, sports, and entrepreneurship to encourage greater involvement of rural youth.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, said the programme received an overwhelming response with activities such as karaoke competitions, sports, and entrepreneurship education aimed at discovering talent and nurturing future leaders.
“When youths are involved in sports, they gain sharp minds, healthy bodies, and strong physical fitness — qualities that can help them succeed as entrepreneurs,” he said during a press conference after officiating the Belia GoBiz Debak programme in Debak last Saturday.
The two-day programme featured eight main events, including talks and exhibitions by the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), and the Ministry of International Trade, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (MINTRED).
A variety of exciting activities were also lined up, such as sales booths, traditional gasing spinning competition, penalty shootouts, zumba, karaoke, and fun sports, as well as a live entertainment stage featuring popular Iban artist Lucy M and Band Mix Buskers from Bungin.
